For English study, students study PACEs consisting of five subjects: Math, English, Social Studies, Science, and Word Building. Students will learn according to their level and according to the results of the diagnostic test. For Korean study, a balanced curriculum of both English and Korean is being conducted through various subjects such as GED, mathematics, Korean history, Korean language, physical education, art, music, and science experiments.

Chapel

Through the weekly Chapel, students have a Christian worldview.

Music

Students truly enjoy music through various instruments such as guitar, piano, and string instruments.

Developing art skill and make art works that use various materials which is easy to conduct in daily life.

P.E.

What is S.O.T?

S.O.T.(School of Tomorrow) started in 1963 as a reaction to the introduction of the theory of evolution and humanist John Dewey’s secular educational philosophy into the US public school system. Concerned Christian educators started by home-schooling their children and this eventually gave birth to the School of Tomorrow curriculum, which was officially launched by Dr. Donald Howard and Dr. Esther Howard in 1970. The entire curriculum is based on a biblical educational philosophy, from kindergarten to 12th grade, and the instruction is exclusively in English, which helps cultivate a firm international competitive edge and nurtures leaders of character in this global age. Students graduating from the S.O.T. curriculum have matriculated into 1,400 universities around the world including Harvard, Stanford, and Oxford.

Strength of the S.O.T. Curriculum

A.C.E. curriculum provides students with academics, skill building, reading practice, character and wisdom training, and knowledge of God and His Word. This complete package begins with reading development and progresses through high school, giving students a solid foundation for pursuing their life goals. Each core subject consists of 12 PACEs (Packet of Accelerated Christian Education) per level. Typical students work daily on one PACE in each subject and may be working at varying levels. A diagnostic test helps to identify academic weaknesses and prescribes a path to help students catch up. Most students complete at least 70 PACEs per year, while maintaining an academic balance by completing about the same number of PACEs in each assigned subject.

About A.C.E. Program

Conventional educational programs take the student through a spiral of material while introducing him to new skills in sequence. Since students are grouped chronologically, they are lockstepped and receive the same material at the same time. However, students do not necessarily all have the same level of maturity as others of their chronological age, and their natural learning rates are not lockstepped with other students. The above-average student may master the skill the first time he is exposed to it, the average student may pick up part of it, and the below-average student will often grasp only a minimum amount or fail to understand it entirely. As the spiral continues, some students stay out in front while others are left behind for a season (or for good).

The A.C.E. program is designed around a new format: that of building skill upon skill. The scope and sequence ignore the concept of grade level and moves with continuous progress beginning with the first skill to be mastered. Depending on their ability and motivation levels, students may move ahead rapidly or take as long as necessary, but each student masters the material. As the student moves upward, level after level, and moves into new concepts, he is far better prepared to learn because he has mastered the skill on the previous level. He does not advance until he has mastered each concept. He is not lockstepped with his classmates but is learning individually and completely before advancing. A.C.E. implements a unique and effective system.

What is ABCs for English Learners?

ABCs for English Learner is a modified form of ACE's conventional "ABCs with ACE and Christi" and "Speaking with Ace and Christi" that has been re-designed to meet the needs of students whose native language is not English and do not live in an English-speaking environment. It helps young children learn to speak and read English in an ESL setting. It is generally suitable for children aged 8 to 10 and covers a 30 to 36-week-long period. At our SCIS, this program is mandatory for students who are not very used to English so they can be ready for their PACEs. The year-long course runs from September of every year to the following July. As part of the ABCs curriculum, Children begin their PACEs which correspond to the first-grade level. When they complete the process, they are normally able to read and answer questions in beginning PACEs. Children learn phonics, the order of the letters of the Roman alphabet, the relationships among English words, writing, etc. through various fun-filled activities involving games, songs, storytelling, poems, etc. Through this learning process children acquire the ability to communicate their opinions, questions, needs, etc. in the English language.
